Sydney thus far
So here's the story that I'm sticking to. Since arriving in the good ole down under, I've seen the royal botanical gardens, the chinese garden, sydney observatory, marinetime museum, australian museum, st. marys church complete with crypt, sydney aquirium, the museum of contemporary art, state library, the red light district (my hostel is actually in the red light district, who knew), anzec war memorial, hyde park, the sydney opera house, and china town. There's probably a few more things that I've written down but those would be the obviously more memorable things. So today, friday, I'm just bumming around town with nothing planned. Tomorrow I leave for Perth on my 3 day train tour.
I did get to see a platypus at the aquarium, however no picture was taken for 2 reasons. One, the little bugger wouldn't stay still, spending its time hunting crayfish (which it did get). And 2, taking a picture of something underwater, behind glass, in a dark room when the thing you're trying to photograph blends into the background pretty dang well, makes it tough to see even it you do manage to get it in the frame. Unfortunately I didn't think of doing a video clip until it was to late. So I apologize for not having a picture of a platypus, I'll try to make it up to everyone.

Well you've been mighty busy, matey! I hope you stopped to taste the fare and have a few brews so you won't end up like one of those skeletons. Pictures look great. Do you think you pack the little buddha dude in your suitcase? He'd go nice in my garden. Mom
Well I'm glad to see that you are taking in some of the more cultural sights in Australia and it's nice to know that these things are available for ones touring pleasure. A note about the platypus, I don't believe they are poisonous or bite much or sting at all and they can go days with out food, so that would be a good show and telling item to bring home and return. I know this from watching the Animal Plant and some what listening to that guy(krikie)talked about them. Perfectly safe for transporting. Remember the holes and stay out of the water.
You are a mad man. Am I rubbing off on you?????? Your first day schedule looks like something I would do. Too much coffee??? What is the story.
Love,
George
Yarrrrgh,
First a correction to whomever posted about the platapi (platapus) I believe we discussed how they are in fact poisonus- have little spikes in their hind legs, can in fact sting you and make your hand swell to the size of a portly Aussie's tush, but by all means- if you must bring one home- then you must. Glad you made it safe, it is cold and actually snowing hard. Take it easy and enjoy. I've got $100 bucks for ya if you get a live picture of the Croc hunter gettin bit by something- or i guess $150 if you bite him.
John-
